For obvious reasons it’s good to have contrast in music. It’s easy to express differences in musical technique throughout a song, harder to have a contrast of an emotional quality and more difficult still to contain these contrasts simultaneously. “Swimmer’s Sinking Feeling” from Celestial Shore’s upcoming album 10x, out on September 3rd, is at once uplifting and devastating. That elated blast of serotonin one feels when traversing the water, a landscape not all their own, contained within the overwhelming distress once you realize you’re in too deep. Lorely Rodriguez of Empress Of lends her vocal talent in all the right places.
